  1. This record like many Mekons releases struggled to get recognition because of distribution problems and The Mekons more or less adopted the guise of loveable outcasts forever cursed by greedy record companies and their own iron-clad values and fell on their own swords. This is a truly astounding record that also has a Clash feel about.
  2. The Mekons are a punk rock/post punk band. They are one of the longest-running and most prolific of the first-wave British punk bands (rivaled in both categories only by The Fall).Leeds University art students Jon Langford and Tom Greenhalgh formed the Mekons in , taking the band's name from the Mekon, an evil, super-intelligent Venusian featured in the British ss comic Dan Dare.
  3. This collection of rare and unobtainable tracks from the U.K. punk legends was unearthed from the vaults and includes brilliant outtakes, alternate versions, cover tunes, B-sides, and a handful of live radio sessions which cover the Mekons' earliest incarnation dating to During the first five years, the group's personnel changed so frequently that The Mekons Story lists 42 group.

  6. Not as cohesive an album as Fear And Whiskey or The Edge Of The World or even So Good It Hurts, but a 5 star rating curdlesusacmegajurelafuchtidis.coinfoe, frankly, the memories I associate with it, but also because the Mekons here fully realize their swing styling and step back from the potential step future and start executing the total possibility of the instrumentation.
  7. The Mekons are unclassifiable music, incorporating punk, folk and country into a joyous explosion of musical energy. This album is perhaps their most accessible, so a good place to start if you haven't heard this band before. Track down Mekons Rock N' Roll, Original Sin, and Curse of the Mekons and enjoy.5/5(3).
  8. I bought it after I heard "letter's in the Post" on John Peel and fell in love with the whole album instantly. When I've been feeling blue I've put this album on and it lifted me back up to the sun again. The Mekons are not everyone's cup of tea but it you're lucky enough to "get it" you will love this album/5(2).
